It is super easy to add a songwriter in Songtrust.
But as a beginner, it can be quite hard to find the appropriate information that is necessary for this.
Fortunately, I have done this many times in the past.
Remember:
Each time a new track is created there are two royalties that are associated with it.
The “Writer Share” (50%) and the “Publisher Share” (50%).
If you don’t have a publishing company, there is no need to do anything here. Just add the rapper and the producer as songwriters (e.g. each with 50%).
In the case that you already have a publishing company you should contact Songtrust so they can help you set it up in your account.
Okay, let’s come back.
Here is a quick tutorial on how to add a songwriter in Songtrust:
- Sign in into your Songtrust account.
- Click on “Menu” in the upper right corner
- Click on “Songwriter” (Not: “Add Songwriters”)
- Go to “Outside Writers”
- Click on “Add Outside Writers”
- Enter their email, full legal name, alternate name (I choose their artist name here), their PRO and their IPI
- Here is a tutorial on how to find their legal name, PRO and IPI.
- Click on “Add Outside Songwriter”
And you are done. Easy right? Now it is time to create more music!
