How To Add A Songwriter In Songtrust [7 Steps]

It is super easy to add a songwriter in Songtrust.

But as a beginner, it can be quite hard to find the appropriate information that is necessary for this.

Fortunately, I have done this many times in the past.

Remember:

Each time a new track is created there are two royalties that are associated with it.

The “Writer Share” (50%) and the “Publisher Share” (50%).

If you don’t have a publishing company, there is no need to do anything here. Just add the rapper and the producer as songwriters (e.g. each with 50%).

In the case that you already have a publishing company you should contact Songtrust so they can help you set it up in your account.

Here is a quick tutorial on how to add a songwriter in Songtrust:

1. Sign in into your Songtrust account.
2. Click on “Menu” in the upper right corner
3. Click on “Songwriter” (Not: “Add Songwriters”)
4. Go to “Outside Writers”
5. Click on “Add Outside Writers”
6. Enter their email, full legal name, alternate name (I choose their artist name here), their PRO and their IPI
7. Here is a tutorial on how to find their legal name, PRO and IPI.
8. Click on “Add Outside Songwriter”

And you are done. Easy right? Now it is time to create more music!
